Gaspard the duck has grown tired of his pond, and today he is visiting the farm.

Every spread has something to lift, open or move to find who is hiding behind it. The activities are built into the story, which is what stops a toddler abandoning the book after the first page.

Farm animals do a lot of work at this age. Cow, duck, hen and donkey are among the first words and sounds a child produces, and having a book that runs through them in the same order every time is genuinely useful for early language.
