Most first rattles assume a baby can hold something. A newborn cannot.

This one goes on the wrist instead, which changes everything. Every time your baby waves an arm, they hear a sound, and within days they start to work out that the two are connected. It is the earliest version of cause and effect, and it is a genuine moment for a parent to watch.

It also draws the eyes to the hand and holds them there, which helps with finding their own hands, a real developmental milestone in the first months.

Machine washable at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle. Lilliputiens is a Belgian brand, founded in 1995 and designed by a team largely made up of parents working alongside early-childhood specialists. Tested to EN71 and ASTM standards and screened for AZO dyes, cadmium and phthalates.

SOUND THEY MAKE THEMSELVES - Worn on the wrist, so a newborn who cannot yet grip anything still produces a sound every time they wave an arm. That is a baby's first discovery that they can affect the world.

HOW BABIES FIND THEIR OWN HANDS - A rattle on the wrist draws the eyes to the hand and keeps them there. Hand discovery is a genuine developmental milestone, and this is one of the few toys that actively helps with it.
